“A short burst of genius.... The best new thing I’ve seen so far in the Fringe ...BOOK NOW!”
“★ ★ ★ ★... Razor-sharp [with] tightly scripted lyrics.... A pithy, affecting production, which dares to speak – as it says we all should – directly from the heart.”
Best International Act

“Packs an impressive amount of wit, humor & pathos into a very short time frame....a narrative feat that succeeds largely due to Walker's impressive energy & range.”
Normal Heights offers upbeat, musical explorations of sexuality, inclusion, and the costs of silence that audiences from Longmont to London have hailed as simultaneously "poignant", "deeply moving", and "hilarious!" Inspired by University of Colorado Writing Instructor Jim Walker's relationship with his Uncle Edward - a gay man forcibly outed in 1950's San Diego - the piece combines cabaret, memoir, & theater to dramatize coming of age at the intersection of James Bond and Don't Ask-Don't Tell.
Co-created with Denver Center for the Performing Arts Composer Gary Grundei and award-winning theater artist Meridith Grundei, the piece explores the tensions and silences around two young men's coming of age - and coming to terms - over what happened one late-night road trip.
Original songs with "razor-sharp lyrics" (Andrea Moore) reveal California suburbs awash in pool play, foreplay, playboys & word play.
Sit back and enjoy. The elephant is in the room.

“Subtle and sophisticated...
fresh, honest and clever theatre… [A]t its heart is the unconditional embrace of acceptance.”
